brainspotting

Brainspotting therapy is based on the belief that every person’s brain is brilliant and amazing in its capacity to adjust to life. Sometimes, when a person does not have the skills to deal with a challenge effectively or faces a painful situation, the brain isolates the experience and helps us move on. The memories are stored in the unconscious mind and interfere with healthy functioning, especially if a person gets triggered. As a Brainspotting therapist, I would pay close attention to where the client looks during a session and ask them to direct their eyes in that direction. The client can access the stored experiences and process them in a safe environment. This results in sustainable relief. Brainspotting was founded by Dr. David Grand, PhD. who treated many clients after the tragedy of 911. More than 13,000 therapists have been trained in many countries and their number is growing.

The motto of Brainspotting is “Where we look affects how we feel.”
